The purpose of the Mentoring Advising Professionals (MAP) Program is to provide professional and skill development opportunities for undergraduate academic advisors to further professional goals through a mentor / mentee relationship.

In accordance with the mission of the AACC, we are excited to announce the launch of a brand new mentoring program for academic advisors: MAP: Mentoring Advising Professionals. This is a program intentionally designed for academic advisors by academic advisors to provide growth and development opportunities for advising mentors and mentees alike, while increasing connectedness at the university and within the advising community.

Program Participation:

REQUIREMENTS:

Advisors who wish to participate in MAP are required to:

  • Receive approval from your supervisor
  • Submit a Mentor Application or Mentee Application
  • Commit to working with your mentor or mentee for one (1) academic year (August 2024 through July 2025), meeting a minimum of ten (10) times during the year
  • Attend the Orientation and Training session on August 26th, 2024

Criteria to Apply and Participant Expectations:

2024-2025 Important Dates:

  • July 19th, 2024: Mentor and mentee applications open
  • August 9th, 2024: Mentor and mentee applications close
  • August 26th, 2024: Mentor / Mentee Orientation and Training
  • January 22nd, 2025: Mid-Year Check-In
  • Summer 2025 (date TBD): End-of-Year Celebration

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a certificate. To confirm completion and certificate eligibility, mentors and mentees should use the MAP Program Self-Tracker and submit to [email protected] by August 1st each year.
