Central Advising Support Fund
The UGA Central Advising Support Fund was established to provide financial support
for the professional growth and recognition of UGA academic advisors. The fund agreement
specifies that funds should be “…used to support academic advising, workshops and
training for academic advisors, travel to advising conferences, faculty mentoring,
awards and other recognition of superior academic advising by faculty and professional
advisors.”
As approved by the Vice President of Instruction, beginning in fall 2020, 50% of the
Central Advising Support Fund's annual spending budget will be designated for an application-based,
University-level professional development pool for individual advisors. Advisors interested in receiving funding should complete application by using the
link below.
Priority will be given to those who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Has completed at least one certificate program offered through UGA Training and Development that is relevant to academic advising and/or advising administration (Certificate in Academic Advising, Advanced Certificate in Academic Advising, Diversity and Inclusion Certificate, Supervisory Excellence, etc.);
- Is presenting new material at a national or regional conference (i.e., has not already presented on this same topic at a previous conference);
- Demonstrates plans to bring back content from this professional development opportunity and create a resource/presentation available to all UGA advisors;
- Has not already received funding from the Central Advising Support Fund to attend an event or conference in the past academic year;
- Demonstrates that professional development funding from their school/college/unit is not available or not sufficient to cover full cost.
